Sound Beginnings is a family style music class that prepares students ages 0-4 for success in Let’s Play Music and Kindergarten. Classes include singing, movement, instrument play, nursery rhymes, games, stories, and ear training activities. Classes are an action-packed 30 minutes once a week over the course of a 15 week semester. Care-takers attend each week with their child. Infant siblings are welcome to attend for a family rate.

We know that children learn most effectively while they're playing, which is why you'll see jumping, singing, storytelling, clapping, and laughing during a Sound Beginnings class. A child's first instrument is their body, so we will use our voices to sing, and our hands and feet to feel the beat.

We will use props, dance, and actions while we sing, as we experience the music through touch, movement, and fun activities. Your child's appreciation for music will grow, and they will benefit from this developmentally appropriate and FUN introduction to music.

These classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers include age-appropriate introduction to solfege, basic interval staff reading (SOL-MI and SOL-LA-MI songs each semester), percussion instruments, gross motor games and dances, finger plays, musical books, ABC's and ASL hand signs for the alphabet, and puppets.

The curriculum is organized into six independent, non-sequential semesters, each with its own unique percussion instrument. You can participate in just one or as many as you'd like. Each semester is four months long and provides experience with different important music and preschool concepts and skills through different songs and games.
